BLOGMAS DAY 3: A Music Gift Guide
We're on to day 3 of Blogmas, which is your lovely reminder that you have 22 days left to get a gift for someone! If you're a music nerd like me and like all things of the musical variety, today's post is right up your alley. Today I'll be sharing all of the best music gifts you can get someone special in your life. Here we go!
You all definitely saw this coming. Not even mad about it. That said, records have had an incredible growth in the last few years. More and more artists are re-issuing or issuing for the first time their albums on vinyl, and people are totally loving it. There is something so awesome about owning one of your favourite albums in a record format. Having the actual physicality of it is so much better than a digital download or a CD. Try to know the type of music the person you're buying for likes or the artists they love. Alternatively, starting off with a classic record like The Beatles' Abbey Road or Pink Floyd' Dark Side of the Moon is always a guaranteed hit. Records can be bought at your local record stores, or online at places like Amazon and Discogs.
2. Something Outside the Box
Although it's easy to get things like records and shirts for a music fan, trying to get something outside of the box always makes for a great gift. One of my favourite sites, Uncommon Goods, has a bunch of really neat music related gifts that are, well, uncommon. Some of them include music note measuring spoons, a mason jar speaker, and recycled record bookends.
There are some amazing music related books that are great for the music fan in your life. Most popular picks are typically biographies. Nothing is cooler than reading about your favourite musician and how they've come to their success. Alternatively, books about different music time periods are always fun, or even books on learning different instruments spark a lot of interest too!
4. Enamel Pins
These fun pins have been incredibly popular be it for their pop culture references or just something cute and fun to wear to your every day jackets. People have gotten creative with them, and there are some fantastic sites where you can pick them up, including Etsy and Redbubble. I'm kind of in love with this Music Please pin from Paper Parasol Press, as well as this Blink 182 one!
5. Mix CDs
On a bit of a budget this year but still want to show you care? A mix CD can do just that! There is nothing sweeter than expressing your feelz for the person you love than giving them a CD of songs from your favourite artists saying everything you want to say. Blank CDs and their cases are typically sold at dollar stores, and, if you're up for the artistic challenge, you can always design your own cover. Not to mention there could be songs and bands on the mix that the person you're giving them to may have never heard of. The musical gif that keeps on giving!
