When it's time to get festive, I'm all game, but it's once it's time to switch the makeup over is when I get real wild (and by "wild" I just mean I switch from lighter tones to darker). When winter shows its face (haha good pun. Makeup post? Get it? Okay bye), I'm ready with those dark hues, and the holidays are no exception. Today's post is all about great winter lipsticks and how to rock them for all looks!
Let me tell you a story behind this bad boy. I bought it in the summer under the impression that it'd be a cute nice light looking pink. Perfect for the summer and would just add enough colour, maybe give a bit of a natural look, we'll see. WRONGWRONGWRONG SO WRONG. When I applied it, it was the farthest from what it looks like in the tube. Now stupid me didn't swatch it beforehand BUT, once applied and I realized how much darker it actually is, it looks AMAZING for a winter look. A serious shade I've been rocking. Because of its rich purple, it pairs perfectly for a matte eye or even a nude sparkle eye look.
KVD is always and forever number one in my book. I've slowly been jumping ship to all of her stuff (RIP my broke wallet), and it's so worth it. Bachelorette was the first shade I purchased from her brand, and I'm so glad I did. This fuchsia is the perfect blend of pink and red. Not too light, not too dark. Put together with a coloured look like blue or purple really makes the eyes pop. It's also the lipstick I get the most compliments on so what a bonus!
I accidentally bought this lipstick by mistaking it for another shade, but I'm actually okay that I did. It's a dark red, but the only thing I kind of don't like is that it's a frosty lipstick making it give this shine. What i do instead is cheat a bit by applying a dark coloured lipgloss over top. I use Anastasia Beverly Hills' gloss int the shade Vamp to kind of cover the frost. Because of how dark it is, its bes paired with a lighter eyeshadow, especially if you have a fair complexion I suffer by getting my hair caught on my lips, but I still look cute so I'll manage.
When I first started wearing red lipsticks, I swore by MAC's Ruby Woo (still kinda do, but I've expanded since then). When Sephora had their birthday gifts a few years ago, one of the options was two Nars lip pencils, one was pink and the other was a deep rich red in the shade 'Cruella' and I fell. in. LOVE. Still am. It's the exact red lip classic thing that you like that Taylor Swift talks about. Perfect with bold eyes or simple eyeliner makes for the perfect holiday look.
