What I've Been Listening To
Today on the blog I'm sharing everything that I've been listening to lately. A lot of my favourite artists are putting out new material that I just can't stop jamming to. Here are five songs that I can't get enough of right now. Here we go!
Paramore- Told You So
Paramore announced that they were putting out a new album, while subsequently released the first single, 'Hard Times'. I was already hyped for it, and found it to be cute and quirky. But just recently they put out their second single, 'Told You So', which is such a fun little dance tune. It has a little bit of synth, but in a way that works for Paramore. The great mix of the noodling guitar and bouncy piano played in the chorus has me dancing around everywhere.
Paramore's new album 'After Laughter' is out May 12.
Bleachers- Don't Take the Money
I've been patiently waiting for a new album from Bleachers. Strange Desire was my soundtrack for all of last summer, and 'I Wanna Get Better' quickly became one my most played songs, so you could imagine my excitement on the announcement of a new single and album. The end result was this jam here, 'Don't Take the Money'. Upon first listen, I couldn't get over how fast and fun it was. The variety of instruments and sounds used in the song has me listening to it over and over, and I end up picking out new parts I never noticed.
Bleacher's new album 'Gone Now' is out June 2.
Haim - Want You Back
Haim is another one of those artist that I've been waiting for a new album from. Days Are Gone was the perfect collection of independent girl anthems that makes my heart soar. 'Want You Back' has these sweet little harmonies, and a dreamy sound that comes with it that makes me reminiscent of summers I never had. The soft guitar strumming mixed with all of the girls' easy breezy singing takes dream pop to a next level, and I am HERE. FOR. IT.
Haim's new album 'Something To Tell You' is out July 7.
Gorillaz - Ascension ft. Vince Staples
After seven years since Gorillaz's last release, I didn't think we'd ever see another release from the animated band. But after some vague posts on social media, Gorillaz mastermind Damon Albarn dropped the news that Gorillaz would be coming out with a new album. This is the first track off the highly anticipated Humanz, and does it deliver. With a faint siren blaring in the background you know it's about to throw you into a roller coaster of crazy that is the rest of the album. Vince Staples provides the main vocals on this song, and his fast paced singing and rapping makes for a really hyped up track that really just makes me want to run around everywhere. Albarn's voice appears halfway through the song which gives it a cooled slow down, but it picks right back up for the chorus again later on. Definitely my favourite track off the album.
Gorillaz's new album 'HUMANZ' is out now.
And now to end it on a song that'll punch you in the gut. Lorde is another artist putting out a highly anticipated album, and after her fun and dancey 'Green Light' was released, I wasn't prepared for this one. The second single, 'Liability', is a haunting ballad that only features Lorde's vocals and dark piano chords. It's the kind of song you'll catch yourself listening to at 2am and feeling all the feels.
Lorde's new album 'Melodrama' is out June 16.
